A Corset is a type of tight-fitting, body-enhancing undergarment that cinches the torso and shapes it. Usually corsets are made of fabric such as leather, lace, silk, cotton or other materials. Corsets may have straps or come strapless and feature hard strips of boning (usually whalebone or steel in the more modern times). In the medieval fashion laces were used to tighten the corsets. Corsets can be smaller in size covering solely the area underneath the bust area down to the hips. This type of Corset is referred to as a waist-cincher. Today corsets are quite fashionable, they can be used not only as underwear but outerwear.
