Despite lingerie being an essential in every woman’s wardrobe, a lot of ladies couldn’t care less about it!

We think that if you have to wear it, you might as well have fun with it! But we also know that some women have other reasons for not liking it as much as we do.

So for you doubters out there, here are problems women have with lingerie that we’ve encountered and how we think they can be solved.

1. “Lingerie Just Never Seems to Fit!”

We may sound like a broken record here, but our constant preaching about finding the right fit is necessary. Getting regular fittings and trying a new style of bra might be all it takes to change your mind about bras actually being comfortable.

When you find a bra that fits right, you’ll feel lifted and supported, your underwire will sit comfortably with no digging in, and your straps will stay up. It’ll lay flat and still against your body without creating any curves that aren’t actually there.

2. “I Don’t Like Wires, Pads, etc…”

The most common complaint about bras is underwire. Don’t like it? That’s fine! Wire-free bras exist, and metal is also sometimes replaced with a silicone or plastic type material that’s easier on the body. These bras are soft, comfortable, and can still support the breast.

Do you hate the bulk that padding adds? It’s all good; even if you have larger breasts, a non-padded bra is totally fine to wear. The right fit can still give a great shape and you won’t be losing out on necessary support.
Sometimes, it just takes a little bit of searching to learn that there’s a bra out there made without the problem you just can’t compromise on.

3. “Lingerie is too sexualized/Lingerie isn’t inclusive of me”

Lingerie has been such a sexualized industry that many women don’t want to feed into any outdated ideals. One may feel as though she has to shop a certain type of lingerie to be sexy, or that lingerie is only made for a certain body type.

We really think it’s up to the woman to determine what she feels sexy in – it can be a lacy set, or a sports bra and boy short. Lingerie is becoming less about sex and more about either practicality or empowerment.

4. “Lingerie is way too expensive!”

Think about the work that goes into a fabulous pair of shoes. It’s crafted to support the foot, the design is conceptualized by an artist, and the best materials are selected for quality and longevity. So knowing all this, you’ll gladly drop a couple hundred dollars because you know the work and time that went into them.

The same thing can be said for MOST lingerie. You’re paying for the design, the materials, the workmanship, and the craft of creating something that’s meant for support, hygiene, and comfort.

That being said, there are some great brands who create lingerie just as special at an affordable price, because all women from all circumstances deserve the best of the best!

5. “I don’t need lingerie! It’s all a farce and it can be harmful!”

Sifting through the conflicting science on whether or not it’s necessary to wear a bra or a pair of underwear can be a whirlwind. It’s like one week bras are harmful, and the next, not wearing one can lead to health issues. What’s true?

We’re not scientists, so maybe we can’t tell you for sure. At the end of the day, it is a personal choice. However, if you’re feeling as though you don’t need lingerie because it’s burdensome and uncomfortable, we know we can change your mind. Just reach out to our Bra Doctor for some advice!
